What Will You Do with Your FPI Fun Money?

There is always something fun going on around town.  Join and test with FPI and use your earnings to enjoy everything the Twin Cities has to offer! 

January 2018:

  • Start January off right at the Land O Lakes Kennel Club Dog Show!  This show takes place at the River Centre in St. Paul, January 5th - 7th.  
  • Check out the Ice Castles at the Lift Bridge in Stillwater!  Opening January 5th and staying open as long as it's cold enough outside! 
  • Don't miss the Red Bull Crashed Ice on January 19-20, taking place in St. Paul.  This skating competition is contested on a 1,600-foot-long track with a drop of 12 stories in front of the Cathedral of Saint Paul!  
  • Warm up inside at the Omnitheater at the Science Museum, where you'll ride along on the Rocky Mountain Express!  Better yet, take in all their shows during Omnifest, now through March 1st!
  • Check out the US Pond Hockey Championships at Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis on January 26 - 29.  See hockey the way it was meant to be played!
  • Twinsfest is back!  Check out all things Twins at Target Field January 19-21.  You'll meet current and former players and you'll be able to get autographs and pictures with your favorite players!

December 2017:

  • Check out the Holiday Train as it makes its way through the Twin Cities! Free, with a food or monetary donation.  December 8 -11.
  • Calling all Harry Potter Fans!  Watch Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, while the Minnesota Orchestra plays its soundrack!  At the Minneapolis Convention Center, December 15 - 17.  
  • Get your exercise at the Wells Fargo Winter Skate in Rice Park, and skate under the beautiful Christmas Tree and spectacular lights!  Free and skate rental is $4.  Open daily. Hours vary by day.
  • You do NOT want to miss the Night Trains at the Twin Cities Model Railroad Museum in St. Paul.  The lights are turned down, and the make-believe town of Matlin is all lit up for Christmas.  The trains are spellbinding, and the whole family, from the very youngest to the oldest, will love this event!  Saturdays, through February 24th.

  • Take a bike ride in one of our beautiful parks to see the colorful leaves up close! 
  • Check out the American Pottery Festival at the Northern Clay Center in Mpls, on Sept 8 - 10
  • See The Property Brothers House Party at the Pantages Theatre in Mpls, Friday, September 15th!
  • Take the family to see Aladdin the Musical at the Orpheum Theater, from September 15th - October 8th!
  • Halloween comes early this year, at, that is, Valleyscare!  This year's attraction runs Fridays and Saturdays from September 16th through October 28th.

August 2017:
  • Conduct your own taste test for the best ice cream in the Twin Cities!  
  • Explore our cities on one of our wonderful bike trails.  Use Nice Ride to rent a bike if you need one!
  • Need to soak up some Vitamin D?  Check out one of these Twin Cities beaches!
  • After a day of biking, beaches and ice cream, check out one of the cities' favorite restaurants with rooftop seating, and enjoy a beautiful summer evening.
  • Are you a sky watcher?  We've got two great events this month!  First, the Perseid Meteor Shower, on August 12 and 13 (they should be especially active in the wee hours of the morning).  And don't forget the (nearly) total solar eclipse on August 21.  The Twin Cities will have 83% coverage; if you want to see the full eclipse, you can road trip to one of these great locales.  Just a reminder: never look directly at the sun.  Buy your eclipse safety glasses here!
  • Finally, we've got some great concerts this month!  Check out Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, just to name a few!

  • Mpls Sculpture Garden Grand Reopening - Saturday, June 10th at the Walker Art Center!  Be among the first to see all the new sculptures and exhibits on display!
  • Midtown Global Music Festival - Minneapolis. Saturday, June 17th.  12PM  - 8PM at Midtown Global Market.  Live music and dance from around the world.
  • Stone Arch Bridge Festival - Minneapolis.  June 16-18.  Enjoy live music, great food, arts and crafts, a car show, a beer sampler and all kinds of fun for the whole family!
  • Twin Cities Jazz Festival - Mears Park, Lowertown, St. Paul.  June 22 - 24.  Enjoy the 19th annual festival and see some amazing jazz artists!
  • See The Moody Blues in concert - Tuesday, June 27th at the Orpheum Theatre in Mpls.  Enjoy this wonderful blast from the past -- one of the top rock bands of the '60s and '70s!

  • Disney On Ice - Dream Big!  Head over to Target Center with the kids for this great event!  Target Center, Minneapolis.  March 1 - 5.  
  • Omnifest.  It's back!  The Science Museum of Minnesota presents Omnifest!  See all the great shows offered at the Omnitheater, March 3 - May 4, St. Paul. 
  • Women In The Parks - Maple Syruping! Gals, come to Fort Snelling for a day of maple syrup and girl-time!  This event takes place on Saturday, March 4th at 1:00 PM at Fort Snelling.  
  • Cooking the Market! Not your ordinary cooking class!  Come to Midtown Global Market and work in teams with a chef, who will take you on a shopping trip of Midtown Market, and will help each team create a dish based on their purchases!  Start with a champagne cocktail and appetizers and end with dining on your wonderful creation!  Midtown Global Market, Mpls.  Wednesday, March 15th from 5:30 - 9:30.
  • Golden Dragons Acrobats!  The Golden Dragons are recognized throughout the US and abroad as THE premier Chinese acrobatic touring company.  Come see for yourself, at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center, Wednesday March 15th.
  • 44th Annual Twin Cities Auto Show!  Saturday, March 11th  - Sunday, March 19th at the Mpls Convention Center.  Fun for all ages!  

February 2017:
  • City of Lakes Loppet!  Get out and enjoy the Minnesota winter, with this fun winter festival!  Theodore Wirth Park, Minneapolis.  February 3 - 5.  
  • Indoor Inline Skating at US Bank Stadium.  Get your workout in without freezing!  Bring your inline skates and skate the stadium!  February 3, 6, 12, 23, 27, from 5:00 - 7:00.  $10 Adults, $5 kids 12 and under.  
  • Tropical Beach Party at the Minnesota Zoo!  Bring your little ones and escape winter for a few hours.  February 18 - March 12, Apple Valley. 
  • The Paint Pub! Explore your creative side by taking a class at The Paint Pub in Maple Grove.  Sip a brew while you create! Dates and prices vary, depending on the class.

  • Wells Fargo Winter Skate!  Rice Park, Downtown St. Paul.  Free admission; hours vary by date. Skate rental $4.  
  • Winter Lights at the Arboretum!  Chaska. The Minnesota premier of international artist Bruce Munro is the first large-scale outdoor light installation at the Arboretum, and features an illuminated winter landscape after dark.    Thursday - Sunday, $12 - $17.  
  • Cinderella at the Childrens Theatre Company!  The classic fairy tale with a hilarious Christmas spin!  Minneapolis, now through January 8th.  Prices vary.    
  • Brews & Bulbs!  Enjoy a tour of holiday lights and craft breweries, from the comfort of a luxury motor coach!  Thursday through Saturday.  Minneapolis and St. Paul, $75.  
November 2016:

  • Thanksgiving Reinvented! Want to shake up your Thanksgiving feast this year?  Learn some new tricks at this cooking class, sponsored by Cooks of Crocus Hill and taking place at Roth Living in Minnetonka. Wednesday, November 9.  $55
  • Wine Fest! Held at Running Aces Racetrack in Columbus, you'll sample reds, whites and sparklings while shopping for hand-crafted gifts and listening to music.  Just in time for the holidays!  Saturday, November 12. $25
  • Autumn Craft Festival!  The Twin Cities premier craft show takes place at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, from Thursday, November 10 through Sunday, November 13.  Wear comfortable shoes...this show is huge!  
  • Free Park Friday!  All 75 Minnesota State Parks have free admission the day after Thanksgiving!  If Black Friday shopping isn't your thing, get out and enjoy the beauty of our state parks!  Friday, November 25.
  • Holidazzle!  Beginning the day after Thanksgiving, this year's Holidazzle takes place in Loring Park.  Eat, drink, shop, and participate in a variety of festival activities.  This is a free event, and even your pets are welcome if they are on leashes!

October 2016:

  • Oktoberfest Cruise on a Paddleford Riverboat!  Take a 4-hour lunch cruise and experience German cuisine, great beer and live polka music!  Saturdays throughout October.  $51.20 covers lunch and cruise.
  • Ghost Tour of Anoka! Billed as the Halloween Capital of the World, Anoka has more than its share of spooky haunts! Take this guided walking tour and experience them for yourself...if you dare!  Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays throughout October.
  • Halloween Fun at Valley Fair! There is something for everyone at Valleyscare 2016!  Mazes,pumpkin patches and rides for the little ones, and scare zones and spooky experiences for those a little older!  Fridays and Saturdays throughout October, Shakopee.
  • Stillwater Harvest Fest! This family-oriented event includes a chili cook-off, a kids' costume parade, live music and more! October 8 and 9.

September 2016:

  • Minnesota Renaissance Festival!  Food, fun, crafts, entertainment, and great people-watching!  Shakopee, weekends through October 2.  Adults $23.95/ Kids $14.95.
  • FlyOver America! Can't get away for a cross-country road trip?  Here's the next best thing!  In this new immersive experience, you'll feel like you're flying over America's most iconic landscapes.  Mall of America in Bloomington.  Open Daily.  Adults $16.95/ Kids $12.95.
  • Food on 4 Wheels Food Truck Festival- Eagan.  Food, Beer, Music and Fun!  September 10, 3PM - 8PM.  Free admission.
  • St. Paul Oktoberfest!  Celebrate St. Paul's North End neighborhood's Germanic heritage with food, beer, cultural events, and...bed racing!  Rice Park, September 16 - 18.  Admission is free!
  • Wild Rice Festival - Roseville!  Celebrate Native American culture and Minnesota's harvest season!  Food, music, demonstrations and hands-on activities for the whole family.  Saturday, September 17.
  • Apple Picking!  'Tis the season for pick-your-own apples!  Various orchards throughout the Twin Cities provide food, entertainment and fun activities for the whole family, while you pick your own apples. Open daily, but for the most fun, go on the weekend!  

August 2016:

  • Uptown Art Fair!Art, music, food, family and fun! August 5-7, Uptown Minneapolis.
  • Dinosaurs at the Minnesota Zoo! Get up close and personal with life-sized roaring and moving dinosaurs! Daily through Labor Day. Admission $12-$18, Apple Valley.
  • The U of M Centennial Showboat - Farewell Season!The U of M Centennial Showboat Farewell Season presents Under the Gaslight! Shows Tuesdays through Saturdays, through August 27. Harriet Island in St. Paul.Don't miss out on this final season!
  • It's the Great Minnesota Get-Together!The State Fair is Back! August 25 - Labor Day, at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St. Paul.
  • Bonus Event! For those wanting to get out of town, check out the Tall Ships in Duluth Harbor! August 18-21, 11:00 - 7:00.

July 2016:

  • 21st annual Basilica Block Party!  Over 20 top music acts play for two days.  Basilica of St. Mary, Minneapolis.  Friday, July 8 and Saturday, July 9.  $55 - $120
  • Twin Cities Color Run 5K - Minnesota State Fairgrounds, St. Paul.  Saturday, July 10, $45.
  • Blaine Family Fun Night - Aquatore Park, Blaine.  Tuesday, July 19 at 6:00 PM.  Free admission, fun for whole family!
  • Minneapolis Aquatennial - Minneapolis.  Parades, fireworks, water skiing shows...there's something for everyone!  Wednesday, July 20 - Saturday, July 23.
  • The Great Midwest Ribfest - Mystic Lake Casino, Prior Lake.  Want some of the best ribs in the country, an art show AND free concerts too?  Come down to Mystic Lake on Friday, July 22 - Sunday, July 24!  All ages are welcome and admission is free.
  • Loring Park Art Fest - Loring Park, Minneapolis.  140 artists, stage performers, strolling musicians, food trucks and kids activities!  Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31st.

June 2016:

  • Skyline Golf on the Roof!  Play mini golf in the shadow of the Minneapolis skyline!  Walker Art Center rooftop, Mpls.  Tuesday - Sunday, 11-5.  $12 adults, $9 kids.
  • Homemade Ice Cream at Historic Gibbs Farm - St Paul.  It's Ice Cream Sunday on June 19th!  From 10-4, the price of admission includes homemade ice cream.  $8 adults, $5 kids.
  • Visit Lake Harriet!  Walk, bike or blade around Lake Harriet and stay for the show at the bandshell.  Then head over to nearby Sebastian Joe's for some of the best ice cream in the Twin Cities!
  • Cascade Bay Water Park in Eagan.  Voted the best water park in Minnesota for 2015, this park has something for everyone!  Opens June 10th.  $10 42" or taller, $8 under 42".

May 2016:

  • Art-a-whirl - Northeast Minnapolis.  The largest open studio tour in the country.  Tour artist studios and purchase original art!   Friday, May 20 - Sunday May 22. 
  • Visit a local Farmer's Market.  For locally grown fruits, vegetables, flowers and more, head out to the one of the many local farmers markets in the Twin Cities.  Times vary depending on location.  
  • Take a Bike Ride!  Minnesota has 4000 miles of paved bike trails and many are located right here in the Twin Cities. Get out on your bike and enjoy the beautiful spring weather!  Check out Nice Ride MN as an easy way to rent a bike.  
  • Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.   Wander through the 1137 acres of gardens and parks, or take a class from a gardening master!  Chaska, open daily from 8am to 8pm.   $12 for adults and kids 12 and older.

April 2016:

  • Minnesota Twins Home Opener! Be there when the Twins beat the White Sox on April 11, Target Field , Minneapolis and maybe take a game day tour. 
  • The Wild Rumpus Bookstore - Linden Hills, Minneapolis.  A great rainy day getaway for kids of all ages!  You'll find animals roaming freely, canoes on the ceiling, and books everywhere.  Your kids will beg you to come back!
  • St. Paul Art Crawl - April 22 - 24, Lowertown and Downtown St. Paul.
